Fast Growing SEO Industry Requires Updated Link Building Strategy

By Julie Johnson

There is a wealth of strategies that SEOs and link builders have at their disposal, but the best ones are not used nearly enough. You can get much more for your time and money by testing under-utilized but tried and true methods, as well as some creative new ones:

Getting back to the basics is key. The original way of link building was to send a message or call the webmaster of the site you want to a link. This is not remaining popular, due to the time it takes to communicate in this way to each site, having to state your case for each one, but it is, still, effective on a steadfast level.

Too much emphasis is being put on manual points of link building, like directory submissions. These are easy, but can also cause detriment. When something is too simple, it is usually that effective. When an SEO suggests this as a large part of their methods, it can mean they are using outdated means. While using several relevant directories, incorporating large amounts is not recommended.

Making your link building more "Web 2.0" is ideal. It is a link builder's dream to have delegate the mundane parts of link building to someone else. This can be achieved by using "link bait," which are worded with the anticipation of gathering links. Try using eye grabbing headlines, and content having great, compelling information in them. Using current news or events and utilizing video that is desirable to link to and share is a great tip.

Don't be fooled by the old school antics to link building. Use your creativity and don't listen to the myths, you will be handsomely rewarded. - 15478
