Up! Not Down and Dirty Dancing Tickets

When this low budget film, with a cast of unknown actors and actresses, came out in 1987, it took a whole lot of critics and moviegoers by surprise and by storm. The amazing part is that it manages to surprise and delight audiences to this day. This film has brought in more than three hundred million dollars from all over the world, and set a record in home video sales as the first to sell more than a million copies. The soundtrack produced two multi-platinum albums and a huge number of singles.

The dancing in this movie is certainly "dirty" by most popular standards of 1963, when it takes place. Foxtrot it is not. Mambo to the max is more like it. If you were old enough to see the movie when it first appeared, watching it now is a "trip", and a really good one! The main characters are Frances Houseman, known to family and friends as "Baby", and Johnny Castle, a hunk of a dance instructor. Jennifer Grey is the perfect actress for the role of "Baby", and Patrick Swayze emerges into stardom with his portrayal of Johnny Castle.

The Housemans are V.I.P. guests at Kellerman's Resort in the Catskills, on a three-week family vacation. Dr. Houseman, the personal physician of the resort's owner, his wife (not quite as staid as she first appears), 17 year old Baby and Lisa, her older and trying- to-be-superior sister all have some living and learning to do. Baby sets the stage by accidentally getting involved with the "No Guests Please" resort staff.

Baby's naivet? is matched not only by her growing attraction to Johnny, but also by her desire to "change the world". When Penny has an illegal abortion, Baby gets her father to save the dancer's life. Dr. Houseman is horrified that his "Baby" is mixed up in this. To make it worse, he assumes that Johnny is responsible, and forbids her to have anything further to do with him.

Baby has done what she believes is the right thing, but it causes a painful rift between her Dad and her growing understanding of herself. She finds herself offering to stand in for Penny, mostly so Johnny won't lose his "gig". With some really intense lessons from the pro, they develop a pretty stunning routine of their own. Yes, Baby falls in love.

Meanwhile, Lisa is about to make a big mistake with Robbie, who is the unrepentant cause of Penny's abortion. Johnny, too proud to defend himself, is about to get fired on other grounds, but Baby starts growing into Frances when she provides his alibi, at her own expense.

The "dirty dancing" that these two wonderfully believable young people supply is so entrancing because it is both sensual and sophisticated, yet still has a purity that defies any element of sleaze. It is just a joy to watch them together. The grand finale has the entire clientele of Kellerman's on their feet and getting into the spirit in a big way. It's a triumph of courage over self-doubt, and love over any darn thing that stands in its way!

As it becomes clear that the movie's title involves a few different but cohesive elements, the experience becomes even more enjoyable. The plot is simple, but the action is believable and in the case of the dance scenes, beautifully choreographed by (also then unknown) Kenny Ortega. "Dirty" is the farthest thing from the feeling you will get from this sensual but never sleazy display of youthful energy and abandon.

This simple boy-meets-girl and goodness-wins-out Hollywood production has proved to be much more than it ever aspired to be. The Broadway musical adaptation of Dirty Dancing has done well in Europe, Australia and Canada, and is still showing in London. You can also catch the touring production in Boston until March 15th. A major financial company has been running an ad on TV recently that really made me mad! The ad shows a bunch of different people walking around with big orange numbers under their arms. The number is supposedely what that person will need to have in savings in order to retire and live a lifestyle like they're accustomed to. At first, I wasn't really sure why these ads made me mad.

Then I figured it out. It wasn't exactly anger that I was feeling, it was more of a feeling of stress or despair. And I guess that's probably the whole idea. My wife told me that that's how that's the most effective type of advertising: they make you feel desperate. Well it sure worked with me. However, I don't think the solution they offered gave me any hope, personally.

Their solution is to sign up with them and they'll help you save and invest properly to end up at the "magic number". That might work for someone just entering the workforce, or even someone in their thirties, but I'm 52 years old. I have very little savings, and in my opinion not a lot of hope to increase that to the one or two million dollars that most of those numbers in the ad represented, even if I hired the best financial mind in the world to help me make decisions.

So what do we do? As far as I'm concerned, I'm working at creating a residual type of income that will flow into my bank account for the rest of my life. I think this is a good plan for most boomers, especially those that find themselves in a similar situation as I have. How do we go about doing that? Here are six ways that I can think of.

1. Get a reverse mortgage on your house. If you've got substantial equity in your home, you can refinance it with a reverse mortgage and take out a lump sum or monthly payments until the day you die.

2. How about a part-time job? If you don't need a lot of extra money because you've got some savings, a pension, and/or social security, maybe a part-time job will be enough to make retirement work for you.

3. Franchises. There are lots of different franchise opportunities available if you don't mind putting up some money up front. Some of them aren't that expensive, and they encompass a huge range of businesses. A restaurant, a cleaning service, an auto repair place. If you've got some money saved up, this might work for you.

4. Start a traditional home business. Maybe there is something you're good at and you can market that skill. It can be building something, making something, or even offering a service, such as bookkeeping. You can sell your product or service on Craig's List or ebay.

5. An internet-based business. There are tons of merchants who pay affiliates to promote their products and then pay a commission on any sales that are made from those promotions. You don't need to have and inventory, you don't even talk to the customer, you just send them to the merchants website. This is a good option, because it frees up your time as it's residual income that keeps coming in month after month.

6. A network marketing business. This is my top choice for the simple reason that it offers both leveraged incom and residual income. Leveraged income means that you sign up distributors underneath you, and you are paid a small part of any sales they generate for the company. The way it worked was I was to place an ad in the paper and require people to send me a dollar for postage and handling for their free BS. The information was the sales letter I got, and then if they were dumb enough to fall for it the business I paid was going to rake in $20 for the package.

Home assembly works the same way. I tried to do this too. I ordered a package for $20 for light switch cover assembly. I paid about twenty dollars for it too. They sent all the supplies, and they were going to pay me $3 for each one I made. The instructions and such were so complicated it took me 3 hours to make one, and I still had to paint it, then get it to pass their quality inspection. Basically I could make about $20 per day if I worked 24/7 and made these perfectly. This was a complete rip off.

Chain Letters, I never fell for these, but they are scams. No matter which you get that says to add your name to the list and then rearrange the information is a scam. Very few people will follow up on this and really do it. In reality most will just eliminate your name, add theirs and then mail out the letters. You get no money, your name is gone and the other person in all probability gets no money either. They try to curb this by saying it doesn't work if you don't mail a dollar to every person above you, but I can tell you it doesn't work then either.

Anything in this world that sounds too good to be true almost certainly is, it is that simple. If you then played the opening bars of Strausss Thus Spoke Zarathustra and mentioned Stanley Kubrick, you may actually get a flicker of recognition. Such is the relative obscurity most science fiction writers, even writers as esteemed as Clarke, toil under. Although venerated within select circles, authors like Clarke, Philip K. Dick, Robert Heinlein, and Isaac Asimov, are seldom celebrated or recognized by the culture at large. Literary or even cultural obscurity is one thing, but to fail to recognize a scientific breakthrough is shameful.

Though those in the know are aware Clarke was a great writer, they are usually not aware of the fact he pioneered the concept upon which modern global satellite communication is based. Having served in the Royal Air Force from 1941 through 1946 as a radar instructor and technician, Clarke first proposed the idea of a satellite-based communications system in 1945. He proposed geostationary satellites could be used as telecommunication relays in a paper entitled Extra-Terrestrial Relays, which was published in Wireless World in 1945.

Effective supply chain management requires more timely decisions. Because many order management systems subscribe to the KISS principle, the creation of optimized rules to determine where orders should ship from is often determined by a strategic location analysis. This analysis, done every few years, looks at average shipments to determine, for example, that Denver is best served from Salt Lake City. However, not all orders are average. What if the order is far from average with the majority of the product being manufactured in Chicago? The stock would travel 530 miles past Denver, only to travel 530 miles back to the customer.

What is needed is a timely, capacity balanced optimization system that performs the sourcing analysis in near real-time and determines that the order should ship from the Chicago plant. There are tools for distributed order processing - but most of those are designed for the likes of catalog shippers. In the catalog world, if there is insufficient inventory in one location, then the order will be redirected to another. Most applications that tackle the more substantive issues of ship point optimization in companies shipping truckloads of consumer-packaged goods have been custom built. A less common problem I see is a site placing their "contact us" link in an easy to find spot, but confusing visitors by calling it something like "details".

Staying Motivated Is The Main Key To Blogging Success!

Hi I'm Albert, and in case you didn't know who I was, I am a full time blogger. I earn my everyday living by blogging on my website about topics that help my subscribers follow my footsteps in becoming successful bloggers online.

One of the main problems that I have received in emails from my subscribers is, "how to stay motivated during tough times". I know during these times of uncertainty it can be tough to think about blogging and making money online. But this is exactly what I did, not more than a year ago.

I was let go not by one, but two companies and I had no incoming income to support my wife and 4 kids. There's was panic, fear and anger during those times and kid you not, I was on the verge of going mad.

But through it all, I kept my faith in God and my family who stood by me every step of the way helped endure me through those difficult times and now we are reaping the benefits of that foundation.

I was fortunate and blessed to have those who were around me at that time and those that loved me gave me words of encouragment to keep at it and be consistent in everything that you are doing. By doing that, and through God's help, I overcame and now am living a dream that is very rewarding for my family and myself.

Look for whatever it is that pushes you everyday, that makes you get out of bed when you don't feel like it, or what causes you to do things that you do everyday, to help motivate yourself in being consistent with your online business.

So you see, I speak from experience when it comes to hardship and finding plausible reasons to continue to blog on my site.

Find what is positive in your life and use that as a motivation tool to began your journey to making your online business successful. For me, it was my family. You see my kids only see the good in me and they are always so happy. Maybe it is because they are so young, but it has made me realize is that this is why I blog!

Nothing good happens overnight, so be patient and be consistent. Focus on the things that you have control of, and put aside the things that you do not.

Keep everything in its proper perspective and focus on what makes you happy. It sounds simple and easy I know, but I speak from being there myself. Simple and easy makes it much more applicable during times when nothing seems simple and easy.

I hope my story can become a shed of encouragement just as those who encouraged me when I thought I couldn't go on with my online business.

Well, what are these benefits? and is a massage worth the money? Although massage therapy was used for thousands of years by the Greeks, Egyptians, Romans and Chinese as part of their healing tradition, in the Western world it is fairly new. This therapy has only been used for a couple of hundred years in Europe, and for the majority of that time was only available to wealthy people.

In traditional healing, medicines would have been given, as well as advise on diet and exercise, and often massage with oils was also reccommended. Sometimes massage was given as a stand alone therapy and a variety of oils would have been prescribed.

There are many different types of massage therapy used in the West, and new ones are sometimes developed which are then incorporated into use.
